For freelance developers & IT contractors

Every gig, every recruiter, and a pitch-ready you, all in one place.

Steerd is the home base for your freelance business. Keep your pipeline, the recruiters and clients you win work through, and the profile you send each one, all in one place instead of five spreadsheets, a Word CV, and your inbox.

Steerd notifications: a due follow-up and an overdue invoice reminder

I'm a developer in Berlin, and for years I ran my own freelance work from a spreadsheet, a folder of Word CVs, and a memory full of recruiters. Steerd is the tool I wanted the whole time. I built it for how we actually win work, not for how software thinks we should.

Manuel Bieh, Founder, building Steerd in Berlin

Your business is scattered across five tabs.

Most freelancers track gigs in a sheet, keep their CV in Word, and run follow-ups out of their inbox and their head. It works fine, right up until a gig slips or a recruiter asks which version of your profile you sent.

Spreadsheet

Gigs you half-remember to update

Word & PDF

A new CV for every recruiter

Inbox

Your memory

Which recruiter, which client

The work is fine. Running it from five places is the problem.

One place to win the work, and keep it.

Steerd covers the part of freelancing that spreadsheets and billing tools ignore: getting the next gig and presenting yourself like a pro.

Pipeline

Win the work

A pipeline that understands how freelancers actually win: direct clients, and the recruiters who front the end client. Every opportunity, every conversation, and the next step in one view, so nothing slips between the cracks.

  • Track gigs from first lead to signed
  • See every open opportunity at a glance
  • Never lose a follow-up again

Profiles & CVs

Present yourself like a pro

A real profile engine, not a one-off résumé. Tailor a pitch-ready CV to each gig in minutes. It stays versioned and multi-theme, ready to send the moment a recruiter asks. No more rebuilding the same document in Word every week.

  • Tailor a CV per gig in minutes
  • Multiple themes, one source of truth
  • Versioned, so you know exactly what you sent

Clients & follow-ups

Run the work

Projects, contacts, activities, and status in one home base. Log a call, set the next step, and always know where every client and gig stands, without digging through your inbox.

  • Contacts and projects, connected
  • Activities and next steps on every deal
  • Always know what is next

Solo to small team

It grows as you do

Start solo today. The day you bring on your first people, Steerd is the same tool, now with team profiles, who's on what, and the margin between your day rates and your cost rates. You don't migrate to a different product to become an agency.

  • Team profiles when you hire
  • Resourcing: who is on which gig
  • Margin when day rates meet cost rates

The differentiator

You win work through recruiters. Your tools should know that.

Generic CRMs see a flat "deal." But a contractor's reality has a middle layer: a recruiter or intermediary who fronts the end client. Steerd models it. You track the recruiters you work through, which end clients they connect you to, and exactly which profile you sent where. No more guessing on the follow-up call.

The recruiter, the end client behind them, and the profile you sent. Tracked, not remembered.

On course in an afternoon.

No migration project. Bring what you have, and start steering.

Bring your gigs in

Add your live opportunities and clients, or let Steerd pull them from your inbox. Your pipeline takes shape in minutes.

Build your pitch-ready profile

Set up your profile once. Tailor a CV per gig from there, in any theme, ready to send the moment a recruiter asks.

Stay on course

Log calls, set next steps, and watch every gig move from lead to won, with nothing slipping in between.

Why not just keep the spreadsheet?

Because the spreadsheet does not know what a recruiter is, and your billing tool only starts once you have already won the work.

Straight talk about what Steerd is, and what it isn't.

Steerd is for winning and running the work. We are deliberately not trying to be your accountant on day one. Here is exactly where the line sits today.

What Steerd does today

Pipeline for gigs, clients and recruiters
Pitch-ready, versioned profiles and CVs
Projects, contacts, activities and follow-ups
Inbox-to-pipeline import

What Steerd doesn't do (yet?)

Invoicing and contracts (your billing tool owns that end)
Time tracking and utilization
US contracting vocabulary (hourly, W2, corp-to-corp)

Questions, answered straight.

Is Steerd an invoicing tool?

No, by design. Steerd is for the part before the invoice: winning the gig and presenting yourself. Invoicing tools already own billing, so we stay focused on getting you the work and play nicely alongside whatever you bill with.

I'm not a developer. Can I still use it?

The product fits any independent professional who sells their services, whether you are a designer, a consultant, or a product person. We built the first version for software and IT freelancers, so that is where it fits best today, and we widen from there.

What is the "recruiter channel," exactly?

A lot of contract work comes through recruiters or intermediaries who front the end client. Steerd models that middle layer: the recruiter you work through, the end client behind them, and which version of your profile you sent. Generic CRMs flatten all of that into one "deal."

Does it work as a small agency, not just solo?

Yes, that's the point. Start solo, and when you bring on your first people the same tool adds team profiles, resourcing, and margin. You don't switch products just to grow up.

Where does my data live?

In the EU. We collect only what the product needs to work, we never sell your data, and you can export or delete it whenever you want. We treat that as table stakes, not a feature.

What does it cost?

You can start for free. Steerd is priced for an individual freelancer, with an expansion tier for when you grow into a small team. No enterprise sales calls.

Get your whole business on one heading.

Bring your gigs, your clients, and your profile into one place, and stop running your freelance business from five tabs.
